JOCK LAURIE JOINS RACE FOR NORTHERN TABLELANDS

Three candidates will fight in the race for Nationals pre-selection, for Richard Torbay’s former state seat of Northern Tablelands.
Yesterday, Walcha farmer Jock Laurie stepped down from his role as National Farmers’ Federation president to become a last-minute contender.
Former Gunnedah mayor Adam Marshall and Claire Coulton, daughter of federal Nationals MP for Parkes Mark Coulton, are also in the running.
It’s not yet known whether or not Mr Laurie will resign from his role as the state’s first Land and Water Commissioner.
He was appointed to the top job last December.
