INTERMODAL IMMINENT

Tamworth Regional Council says it’s waiting on the results of funding applications through the state government, before work can begin on the proposed intermodal rail hub.
Preliminary works would include upgrading the road network and installing a new roundabout, before construction on the freight terminal gets underway.
“We’ve engaged a fantastic company, as everybody would know, with Qube Logistics, who are the biggest logistics provider in Australia and they’re going to be the operators of this new intermodal facility,” Paul Bennett, General Manager Tamworth Regional Council.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson says it’s a 2015 election commitment he intends to uphold.
“Very close now to releasing those funds, $7.4-million which has been allocated from the state government to that project, that is to reactivate the line along Wallamore Road out to Goddard’s Lane,” Kevin Anderson, Member for Tamworth.
