MAN CHARGED OVER WINDALE ROBBERY

A 21-year-old man has faced court today, accused of robbing a Lake Macquarie service station earlier this year with an axe.
He was arrested yesterday on an unrelated matter, and was later charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon over the July 26 robbery.
Police allege he and another man, smashed their way into the service station on Lake Street at Windale, where they stole money from the till, cigarettes and food.
A worker inside at the time, was forced to lock himself inside a store room during the ordeal.
Investigations into the robbery are continuing.
