Police are treating a fire that broke out in a two-storey apartment at Jesmond this morning as suspicious.
Three fire crews responded to the blaze in Harvard Street, but the blaze had already caused extensive damage.
“There was a lot of heat, but it was only a small unit, so once crews made entry it was fairly easy to extinguish and the good thing was there was no extension to the adjoining units.”
The home’s male occupant escaped injury.
