SCHOOL CARE OPERATORS QUESTION TRANSPORT CHANGES

Before and after-school care operators are questioning changes to regulations, requiring more staff onboard mini-buses transporting students.
The state government now requires one adult per 15 children – something many say they can’t afford.
“Many families don’t know about this issue because we’re trying not to worry them right now, until we have an actual answer.”
“As we head into the new school term, there are going to be students left at school, or fees will have to be hiked up, at short notice to families.”
The Education Department says the change brings the state into line with the rest of Australia.
