FRUIT AND VEG GIANT HARRIS FARM MOVES INTO DARBY STREET

The big supermarket chains have a new competitor in Newcastle, with fruit and veg giant Harris Farm opening its Darby Street store today.

Traffic controllers were on hand as a large number of customers flocked to the Cooks Hill site.

Local bakery Baked Uprising has also taken residence, along with a seafood market, butcher and cheese shop.

Harris Farm closed its Glendale store on Monday.
