Port Macquarie Airport has received a $5 million boost towards upgrading its terminal.
The state-funding will go a long way towards Port Macquarie-Hasting Council’s $7 million upgrade plans.
“This will bring greater security for the airport terminal, it will bring an expanded area for people to work in and it will have improved both departure and arrival lounges.”
An internal baggage claim carousel is also major upgrade feature.
“The visitor numbers in this region is growing, it is a point of destination for many domestic and international visitors, to match that we need to grow capacity.”
The council is now seeking further funding from the federal government.
