A total fire ban has been declared for most of the New England North West, commencing from midnight tonight.
Under a total fire ban, all permits are suspended, with hot and dry conditions forecast.

While the New England region will face a rating of ‘very high’ fire danger.
Lighting a fire during the ban will attract an on the spot fine of $2200 – but penalties can be as high as $5-and-a-half-thousand and 18 months imprisonment.
