WALCHA EXPLORES OPTIONS FOR WATER SECURITY
Walcha Council’s plans for a larger water storage facility may be one step closer to reality – thanks to a $115-thousand grant from the state government.
The funding will go towards a feasibility study to find the best option to future-proof the town’s water supply.
It comes as the town is on the cusp of level four restrictions.
Engineers are already on the ground working with Walcha Council to see the feasibility study completed within the next two to three months.
“We will then submit them through the safe and secure water program – which I’m really pleased to say that there is a significant amount of money set aside in that program particularly in the conditions we’re in with drought,” Kevin Anderson, Member for Tamworth.
