A juvenile justice officer has been charged after a 17-year-old detainee was allegedly assaulted at the Frank Baxter centre at Kariong on Saturday.
Police allege the teen suffered facial injuries as a result of an incident involving the 54-year-old officer.
The man was granted conditional bail yesterday and will face Gosford Local Court on December 4.
