THOUSANDS RUB SHOULDERS WITH DRIVERS AT JETTY CEREMONY

Thousands of motorsport fans raced down to the Coffs Harbour Jetty this afternoon, to rub shoulders with drivers at the ceremonial start for Rally Australia.

The WRC crews were received like rock stars.

“This is Coffs Harbour welcoming a world event to our stage, its absolutely unreal 7 times its been here and this year the championship will be decided on the Coffs Coast which is unreal.”

Drivers were given souvenirs to remember their time down under.

“This is one of the points of difference that rally has. Unlike grand prix, where drivers are removed from the fans, here they’re up close, personal, they can see the cars, they can touch them, and its free.”

Earlier, spectators got to see the rally aces in action, at the service park and on the pre-event shakedown.
