WORK CONTINUES TO CONTAIN SALT ASH BUSHFIRE

Around 50 firefighters remain on the scene of a bushfire at Salt Ash at Port Stephens.

The blaze has already burnt through more than 1800 hectares, after it reached an emergency level warning on both Thursday and Friday.

It’s currently listed as ‘being controlled’ and remains at an advice level warning.

Overnight, crews worked to strengthen containment lines, with some fire activity to the east of Pacific Dunes.

A community meeting will be held for local residents at the Salt Ash Community Hall at 2 o’clock this afternoon.
