Dredging is set to begin at The Entrance within days.
Crews will clear the channel after obtaining a varied licence from the Environment Protection Authority, and taking into consideration the area’s birdlife.
“We’ve also had to deal with orthinologists around the terns that often nest at The Entrance,” Council CEO, Gary Murphy said.
The extracted sand will be used to re-nourish North Entrance Beach.
