BHP has welcomed the land and environment court’s decision, to uphold the Mount Arthur Coal Mine’s rehabilitation strategy.
The company says it restored almost 1200 hectares of the mine during the last financial year, and has promised to maintain close community ties.
Muswellbrook Shire Council launched the legal action last year, due to concerns about rehabilitation standards onsite.
