A man will face Maitland Local Court today, following an alleged assualt with a meat cleaver.
Around 6pm on Monday December 17, police were called to a Rutherford unit, following reports of an altercation between two men.
A 31-year-old man sustained a serious laceration to his arm, and was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
Officers set up a crime scene, and seized a number of items to undergo forensic testing.
A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
