HEXHAM FIRES DOWNGRADED TO ‘ADVICE’
Two fires burning near Hexham west of Newcastle have been downgraded to ‘Advice’, after earlier reaching a ‘Watch And Act’ level warning.
The first fire, which started near Sparke Street at Hexham, came just metres from a nursing home.
A second fire burning on Ash Island, on the northern side of the Hunter River, is also at ‘Advice’ level.
It’s burnt through almost 80 hectares, and is burning in the vicinity of a nearby coal storage area.
