Fishermen keen to show off the odd shark in their catch are being asked to forgo their selfie for the good of the species.
Using underwater drones, researchers from the University of Newcastle have observed that while the creatures appear fine swimming off after release, they are prone to high levels of stress the longer they’re out of the water.
While they take off quickly, a condition similar to paralysis soon kicks in.
