A woman has died and a man has been critically injured… following a head-on crash at Bendemeer this morning.
Emergency services were called to the New England Highway just after 7.30… The driver of a sedan, believed to be in her 40’s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“At roughly 7.30 this morning, there’s been quite a nasty accident about 16kms north of Bendemeer. A vehicle travelling south has crossed onto the incorrect side of the road, we believe, and collided with a northbound car.”
The driver of the southbound vehicle, a man aged in his 60’s, was taken to Tamworth Base Hospital with serious leg and hip injuries.
The highway was closed throughout the day.
