It’s one of several bushfires that broke out across the Hunter late today, fanned by hot afternoon winds.
Earlier, a grass fire ignited along the railway corridor near Waratah Oval.
Police were called in for traffic control as smoke blew over Station Street.
The flames quickly consumed the dry vegetation along the railway track but were contained to the corridor.
If you see any unattended fires contact 000.
