YOUNG INVENTOR TAKES OUT PRIZE WITH ORTHOTIC PROJECT

Who would have thought a bunion could bring someone so much success?
But for year 12 student, Kevin Warriner, the genetic condition that plagues his family has made him $1000 richer.
The Xavier Catholic College student beat 35 other entrants to win the North Coast Innovation Idea’s competition, by coming up with this customised orthotic.
“Basically it works along the principal of a toe separator and also a cushioning side wall to make more comfort and ease of use.”
Kevin worked with a local podiatrist to fine tune his project and plans to put his winnings towards buying a patent, before marketing and selling his invention.
A year 12 student creating his own custom orthotics, very clever!
