BULLET INVESTIGATION MOVING FORWARD

With just three days until New England’s by-election, Tamworth police are close to finding the person responsible for sending a bullet to Barnaby Joyce’s former electorate office.

DNA has been found on the bullet, which was also accompanied by a threatening letter earlier this month.

“That’s been subject of intensive investigation by us, in particular some forensic identification. That has progressed. We have now got some forensic information.”

Officers say they aren’t expecting any issues when the public goes to the polls on Saturday.
