FINAL SALUTE FOR 35 YEAR VETERAN
The thin blue line bid farewell to one of its finest today, as Patricia Swilks retired from the police force after 35 years of service.
“The people you work with are the things you remember most. Different characters you’ve encountered in 35 years,” she said.
“Some very old school police that I was very junior to and some very junior police that I’m sort of old school I guess.”
Sergeant Swilks was joined by family and colleagues at Waratah Police Station to celebrate her career… before one final send-off.
The first item on the retirement list – an overseas holiday with her husband Dave, also a retired police officer.
All up, they served a combined 80 years in the force.
