MAN CHARGED OVER GROUP 21 RUGBY LEAGUE BRAWL

A 27-year-old man has been charged over an on-field incident in Group 21 Rugby League earlier this year.
The man was arrested at a home at Lake Haven on the Central Coast on Monday, and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.
It’s alleged the man, who played for the Denman Devils, struck an opposing player in the final minutes of their reserve grade clash with the Murrurundi Mavericks at Denman Oval, knocking him unconscious.
The injured player was taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital suffering multiple fractures to his jaw.
The accused, who was sent from the field at the time, is due back in Wyong Local Court next month.
