GOONELLABAH’S LIBRARY IN THE FIRING LINE

Bookworms living in Goonellabah may now have to travel a little further to borrow a novel.

As part of its four year delivery plan, Lismore council has approved a draft policy that could see the Goonellabah Library closed.

“We have to cut $1 million dollars out of our budget every year for 10 years to put aside for our asset renewal, mostly our roads.”

If its doors are shut Goonellabah residents will have to make the trip into Lismore to access a library.

The facility’s fate will be decided at a council meeting next month.
