LEARNER DRIVER CAUGHT SPEEDING WITH TWO KIDS UNDER FOUR IN THE CAR
A 23-year-old learner driver has been fined almost $2,500, after he was caught travelling at nearly 140km/h with two young children in the car near Grafton.
Officers stopped the Ford Territory on the Pacific Highway just south of the town on Saturday afternoon, after it was recorded at 139km/h.
Police say when they spoke to the man, he told them, “I don’t think I was going that fast. I was just overtaking those two cars”.
He was fined $2435, while his licence was also suspended.
The man’s partner, who was acting as the observer, was also issued an infringement notice.
