Major mining projects in the Hunter will come under the spotlight as part of a 12-month review by the Productivity Commission.
The review, announced this morning at a Minerals Council Conference at Cessnock, aims to reduce delays in assessing projects across the resource sector.
The government says it will maintain the current environmental standards.
