CENTRAL COAST TODDLER DIAGNOSED WITH MENINGOCOCCAL DISEASE

A Central Coast toddler has been diagnosed with meningococcal disease.

The two-year-old presented with symptoms at Gosford Hospital, before being transferred to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Close contacts of the little girl have been given antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection.

Symptoms of the illness include a high fever, nausea and vomitting, neck stiffness and joint pain.
