WYONG COUNCIL OPTS FOR TREE CHANGE POLICY

Recent storm activity on the Central Coast has prompted Wyong Council to bring forward changes to the shire’s tree removal process.

Under changes made last night, landowners in the shire will now be able to remove any trees or vegetation on properties less than 1500 metres squared, without council approval.

The changes do not apply to endangered species.

It comes after months of backlash from the Trees Bateau Bay Group, which believes the changes will result in a so called ‘chain-saw massacre’ of native trees.
