A surfer has been rushed to hospital, after being bitten by a shark off Ballina on the far north coast.
The 20-year-old was in the water at Lighthouse Beach, when he was attacked around 6.30pm.
He managed to get himself to shore and raise the alarm.
The man’s been taken to Lismore Base Hospital with serious wounds to his left thigh.
Lighthouse Beach will remain closed for at least 24 hours.
