GLEN INNES’ KERRY MEAD PARK TO RECEIVE $480,000 IN FACILITY UPGRADES

It was a hub of activity at Kerry Mead Park in Glen Innes today.

The well-used football field is home to the Glen Innes Rugby League Club.

$500,000 of State Government funding has been allocated, to see the site fitted with modern sportsground facilities.

“It’s a tremendous boost. Obviously it’s a big part of our community, especially minor league… 187 registered kids last year and growing. So, this is just going to be a huge plus.”

Improvements include the installation of field lighting, underground irrigation and spectator seating.

As well as something to cater for the growing number of north-west women electing to play rugby.

“There was a huge need for the new facilities to have women’s changerooms, men’s changerooms, as well as modern facilities for all the officials, referees and for spectators as well.”

Construction is expected to be complete by March 2020.
