Armidale’s Bernie Shakeshaft has been named the 2020 Local Hero, at the New South Wales Australian of the Year Awards.
Since founding BackTrack Youth Works over a decade ago, Mr. Shakeshaft has transformed the lives of more than 1000 vulnerable young people.
The judges described the 52-year-old’s work as “life-changing and inspiring”.
