MAN CHARGED AFTER LIGHTING FIRE, THREATENING MAN WITH CHAINSAW AND INTIMIDATING RFS VOLUNTEER
A second man has been charged following alleged intimidation of Rural Fire Service volunteers on the Mid North Coast.
Yesterday, a 32-year-old man allegedly used a chainsaw to threaten a 64-year-old man at a property near Taree.
He then lit a fire behind the property.
Two RFS volunteers attended the fire a short time later and were allegedly threatened by the man.
Police from the Manning/Great Lakes District were called and attended the property and arrested the man.
The man was taken to Taree Police Station and charged with common assault, three counts of intimidation, possess a prohibited drug, and damage property by fire.
He was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Bail Court today.
