Hunter golfers enjoyed a mixed start at the Masters in Melbourne.
While Muswellbrook’s Kurt Barnes leads the charge, Nathan Green is the only other member of the contingent under par.
Aaron Townsend and Nick Flanagan have plenty of work to do just to make the cut.
Green fired six birdies in his opening round, but three bogeys killed off any shot at leading the event.
Barnes is known for his strong starts at tournaments and his round of 67 was certainly more consistent than those of his Hunter rivals.
