Police have launched an investigation after a man was found seriously injured on the side of the road at Gateshead overnight.
It’s believed the 36-year-old cyclist may have been hit by a car at the intersection of Oxford and Church Street.
A passer-by found him next to his bicycle at around 12:30 on Saturday morning.
He was suffering serious head injures and was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have seen a man riding a bike around 12.30am on, or near, Oxford Street at Gateshead, to contact police.
