MAN CHARGED OVER ALLEGEDLY STABBING ANOTHER MAN WITH WINE GLASS NEAR COFFS
A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing another man with a broken wine glass at a beach on the Coffs Coast.
It’s believed a 49-year-old man and 50-year-old woman were at Sandy Beach yesterday afternoon, when an argument broke out with a 37-year-old man.
The younger man left the beach, returning to approach the couple again a short time later.
Police say the argument turned violent, with the older man stabbing the younger man with a broken wine glass.
A bystander raised the alarm with emergency services.
The younger man was taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital where he was treated for non life threatening injuries to his wrist, chest and back.
Police later arrested the older man at a nearby home, and was taken in for questioning.
He was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing a prohibited plant.
The man was refused bail to appear at Coffs Habour Local Court today.
