The heatwave has set in for eastern Australia, with tropical heat and humidity continuing to surge further south, reaching Tasmania today.
Temperatures are on the rise, with strong afternoon north-easterly seabreezes fanning the coast and pumping in high humidity levels, making for some very hot nights.
The southerly change will arrive on Sunday afternoon and move across northern NSW throughout Monday, triggering rain across the region.
Showers are likely to increase from mid next week, with storms and heavy down pours forecast.
