Port Macquarie’s Matt Banting is through to the quarter finals of the US Open of Surfing, after winning his heat in the round of 16 at Huntington Beach in California.
He scored 13.87 to win by a nail biting 0.04 over Hawaii’s Granger Larsen.
Banting will take on South Africa’s Jordy Smith in what is expected to be a thrilling heat tomorrow.
