A 38-year-old man will face court next month after being charged over the alleged sexual assault of a young woman last year.
In September 2019, detectives from Oxley Police District commenced an investigation following reports an 18-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her.
Following further investigations, including forensic examinations, detectives arrested the man at a home at West Tamworth about 11am yesterday (Thursday 20 February 2020).
The man was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse without consent and sexual touching.
Police will allege the man sexually abused the woman whilst she was sleeping at a home at West Tamworth in the early hours of Thursday 12 September 2019.
He has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday 16 March 2020.
