A meeting was today held between Lexie’s on the beach café owner Nick Sovechles and council representatives to find a solution to reopen the Stockton institution.
Newcastle City Council released a statement late on Monday afternoon to say it’s working on a plan to reopen the much-loved Stockton café.
The process to reopen the café will require securing insurance for the building leased by council to the cafe owners.
The council has also discussed establishing a temporary café at Stockton beside the ferry terminal.
Newcastle council says Lexie’s was closed following the results of an independent risk assessment.
