MAN CHARGED OVER POLICE PURSUIT AND POSSESSION OF METH

A man found with meth in his car will face court today over an alleged police pursuit in Armidale yesterday.

Police were patrolling the town just before 3am, when they stopped a white ute without number plates on Queen Elizabeth Drive.

Officers approached the ute, but the 19-year-old driver sped away.

A pursuit began, but was terminated soon after.

The ute was later seen driving along Marsh Street, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into a tree.

The 19-year-old, and a 22-year-old male passenger were taken to Armidale Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both men have now been released from hospital.

The driver was arrested and charged with a string of offences, including driving while suspended.

He’ll appear in Armidale Local Court today.
