HOUSE SAVED AFTER WASHING MACHINE CATCHES FIRE

A quick-thinking Singleton resident has helped stop a fire from spreading inside their home after their washing machine caught alight.

Firefighters arrived at the house just after midday, using a Co2 fire extinguisher to put the fire out, before removing the washing machine from the house.

Firefighters say if the occupant didn’t close the door to the laundry, the damage could have been a lot worse.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
