Police have charged a man after he was found allegedly carrying a replica firearm in a Lake Macquarie suburb on Thursday.
Concerned onlookers called police after seeing the man holding what looked like a real gun while walking down Bourke Street at Windale.
Officers searched the area and later found the man with the replica firearm at a home on Takooma Way.
He was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station, where he was charged with possessing an unregistered firearm in public place and possessing an unauthorised firearm.
He was refused bail and is due to appear at Belmont Local Court today.
