GOSFORD MAN’S BAD LUCK ENDS WITH $1 MILLION LOTTO WIN
A Gosford man admits he was ignoring calls that would change his life this morning, saying he thought someone was trying to sell him something.
Instead the essential worker was surprised to find out he won $1 million.
“Wow! That’s unbelievable! Wow! It’s completely out of the blue. I had no idea I had one,” he exclaimed.
“I’m just getting ready to go to work, as I am considered an essential worker.
“I had seen a couple of missed calls on my phone this morning, but I thought they would just be from a charity or company trying to get me to buy something – not the opposite.
“It’s just so unbelievable, what a fantastic feeling knowing I’m a millionaire.”
The man held the only winning entry nationally in the Monday & Wednesday lotto draw, taking home the division one prize – a total of $1,003,101.40.
When asked how he planned to enjoy his future as a newly-minted millionaire, he revealed he saw the win as an end to a streak of bad luck.
“I lost my home about five years ago and have been saving up to get a new house and stop worrying about renting,” he explained.
“We had a close call earlier this year with the bushfires but fortunately we stayed safe.
“This win will mean I am able to finally consider retiring in a few years knowing that I am set up for my future.
He said his new millionaire status would not prevent him from heading off to work today.
“Afterwards I’ll do something to celebrate,” he laughed.
“I’ve got two beautiful kids and I can’t wait to tell them. They’ll be so excited for their Dad.”
The happy winner purchased his ticket at West Gosford Newsagency.
