Mid-Coast residents have been left saddened and angry by an overnight vandal attack at Tuncurry cemetery.
Several headstones were destroyed by graffiti in the Thursday night attack.
Officers from the Manning-Great Lakes Police District arrived at the cemetery on The Lakes Way this morning, to find at least a dozen gravesites damaged by white spray paint.
Detectives have begun investigating the incident.
They believe the damage occurred sometime between 11am yesterday and 9am today.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Forster and Tuncurry areas between these times, anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam vision, or who may have any information which could assist investigators is urged to contact police.
