Tamworth Airport has been given the go-ahead from the federal government to become a temporary international airport.
It comes as the city prepares to welcome the New Zealand Warriors, who’ll be training ahead of the season relaunch.
They’re due to fly in from Auckland on Sunday and will need to quarantine for two weeks before playing.
The request was approved this morning, after it was discussed in a national cabinet overnight.
