A morning bodyboard has taken a tragic turn south of Newcastle, with a 20-year-old pulled unconscious from the water.
The teenager was in the surf at Pinny Beach, between Caves Beach and Catherine Hill Bay, on Sunday morning when he was found floating below the surface.
Bystanders pulled the man from the water, and started CPR until Paramedics arrived.
He died at the scene.
