MAN DIES IN LIGHT PLANE CRASH IN HUNTER VALLEY

A man has died in a light plane crash at Windella, west of Maitland.

About 10:15am, (May 17) the pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft crashed a light plane into a backyard of a property on Denton Close, Windella.

Those nearby rushed to render assistance to the man, removing him from the wreckage and performing CPR.

He could not be saved and died at the scene.

The man is yet to be identified but it’s believed to be a 44-year-old and an experienced pilot.

Police told NBN News an investigation into the crash could take several days.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority have been notified.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
