Cessnock Council has appointed a new general manager.
Previous GM Bernie Mortimer has retired, after holding the position for 35 years.
His replacement, Lea Rosser, boasts more than three decades worth of experience working in local government.
The change comes more than a month after the state government partially stripped the council of its planning approval powers.
