FOUR NEW ENGLAND AIRPORTS TO SHARE IN $5.8 MILLION FUNDING BOOST

Four New England airports will share in a $5.8-million funding boost from the Federal Government.

The cash will see upgrades made to Scone, Tamworth, Armidale and Inverell airports.

New lighting will be installed at Tamworth Airport, while Scone will receive a runway reconstruction.

Armidale’s facility will benefit from storm and bad weather improvements, with Inverell’s aerodrome to receive new fencing.

The funding comes as regional travel demand soars across the state, with modern infrastructure required to keep country airports moving.
