ONE MAN ARRESTED, ANOTHER ON THE RUN, FOLLOWING DRUG SUPPLY INVESTIGATION IN WALLSEND
One man has been arrested, and another remains on the run, after detectives investigating drug supply in the Hunter, honed in on a property west of Newcastle.
Police from Operation Utah pulled over a white ute leaving the Wallsend home yesterday afternoon, after it failed to indicate.
Officers searched the car and allegedly uncovered numerous clear, resealable bags containing cocaine and methylamphetamine.
The driver, a 34-year-old from Raymond Terrace, was arrested and charged.
A few hours later, police were patrolling the suburb when they saw a blue sedan leaving the same home.
They chased the car, but lost sight of it as it headed towards Fletcher.
Members of the public later directed police to Jarrah Close, where they found the car, abandoned, at the bottom of an embankment.
Inside the car, police found cash and a small amount of cocaine – which have been seized for forensic examination.
The dog squad searched for the driver, but they couldn’t be found.
Anyone with information about yesterday’s incident in the Wallsend/Fletcher area is being urged to contact police.
